Weight Lifting Exercises : Weight Lifting Exercises: Standing Barbell Military Presses

What I’ll be performing here is the Standing
Barbell Military Presses. What you want to do is bring the barbell behind the neck, control
the weight. You don’t want to move the weight too quickly, keep the motion constant. You
want to do about three to four sets, eight to ten reps. You want to bring it to about
below the neck and above the head. You do not want to extend the arms too far up, keep
it slightly bent, keep the shoulders tight, control the motion throughout. And also something
that you can throw in if you want to is you can do them half ways, that right there will
kind of push more blood into the shoulders to give them a better pump. And that’s how
you do a Barbell Military Press.

  1. It's your age and possibly your height. Your metabolism at your age makes it very hard to build muscle. I had the same problem when I was your age. I grew very fast and got to 6' 3 by my sophomore year. I couldn't gain weight no matter how much I ate and worked out. I would just get a little belly roll. I suggest doing 3 sets of 8-12 reps on your lifting. Try eating a small, balanced, healty meal every 3-4hours. Also, drink a whey protein shake with some carbs after your work outs.

  2. Track your calories. It isn't difficult for someone to gain weight when they know how many calories they take in each day.

If you're eating, say, 3,000 calories each day right now, and are MAINTAINING weight, eat 300 – 500 calories more every day. 4 tablespoons of natural peanut butter will do nicely, this will give you added Omega-3, protein, and is low in carbohydrates.

  3. Sure, using light weights there isn't a problem, but the exercise does place a great deal of stress on the shoulder joints. There are better options out there.
