Office Chair Yoga Stretches : Office Chair Yoga: Chest & Shoulders Stretch

The first stretch we’re going to focus on
is opening up the chest and the shoulders. So placing your hands behind the back, fingers
facing away from you if you have room. You’re going to drop the shoulders down away from
the ears and pull the shoulder blades together. From that position, you’re going to drop your
head back, taking deep breaths in and out. I’ll turn to the side so you can see what
this looks like from the side. Shoulders are down, pull together and the head is dropped
back, taking deep breaths in through the nose, exhaling out through the mouth. It’s really
good for opening up the chest so where the pectoral is the chest muscle attaches to the
deltoid which is the shoulder. A lot of times, this gets really tight from being hunched
over and it just gets tighter and tighter over time. It’s one of the best stretches
you can do at your desk in your chair to open it up. So again shoulders are down, shoulder
blades together head is dropped back taking deep breaths. You just want to come out of
it by bringing the head slowly up and then keep the shoulders down and relaxed as you
place your hands on your legs feeling what that correct posture feels like.

  1. These Cassie Naumann videos are very helpful and this appears to be the first one. Does anyone know however, the best order to practice them in? Thanks.

  2. The neck stretch is the one she does after this and the very last one is the foot stretch, so basically the videos go from the top of the body down. That's how I do them anyways.
