I FIT Tips: Push Ups

Music instrumental by — Yellowcard “Lights
& Sounds” Hey, my name is Kelly and this is your inclusive
fitness training tip of the day. Today, we are going to be talking about push-ups. Push-ups
are a very common exercise for most individuals. And it can also be for individuals with limited
function in their lower body as well. All you need is a few slight modifications,
This is Ramon and he’s going to help demonstrate this exercise today. So the only modification
you’ll need to do for a push up is to put the individual on a mat. So they can do push-ups
from this position. Ramon can you demonstrate and the stronger the individual is the further
they can come off of the mat. So, Ramon is going to demonstrate that he can come off
of the mat and do a push up in this position. This is allowing him to use the majority of
his body weight. The get a deeper push up, he can use these push up bars. So this allows
him to pick it up a little bit further and he’s going to get a deeper pull in his chest.
So now he’s can demonstrate he’s going to go down all the way and get a deeper pull
in there. Thanks Ramon. Some other modifications you can do is to use a medicine ball or kettle
bells as well. That’s going to help incorporate more core into this exercise. But that’s how
you do a modified push up. And that was your inclusive training tip of the day, thanks
for watching!
